Heart in Nature: Palm

This photo comes from Kitty Wilkin of Kitty’s Heart of Nature. In 2007, she and her husband were honeymooning in Quintana Roo, Mexico and she came across this palm on a path.

When the leaves were young they were all curled up and found to be tasty by a local insect. As the leaves matured and unfurled, a pattern emerged. Just like unfolding a paper snowflake.

You can read more about Kitty’s discovery and other hearts she has uncovered in her Love Really Is Everywhere… post. And if you are a fan of the photo, Kitty does sell it as prints and holiday cards.
