Happy 11th Birthday Jimmie!

April 15, 2008 at 12:00 am 11 comments

Today, my dog Jimmie turns 11 years old.  Last year, I highlighted his first ten years of adventures, so this year I can take a more modest scope.  Here are just a few of Jimmie’s adventures from this past year:

Devil’s Marbleyard

Foamhenge

Backpacking Mount Rogers

Backpacking Peters Mountain

War Spur in Snow

Tinker Cliffs

Dragon’s Tooth

Sinking Creek Mountain

Kelly’s Knob

Modeling Hairnet

If everyone on this expansive planet of ours could stumble upon just one companion as steadfast, as devoted and as comforting as a good dog could be, the world would be a dramatically different place.  Less lonely.  More merry.

To Jimmie– I wish a happy birthday and look forward to another year’s worth of adventures.

To everyone else– may you find your “Jimmie” and the joys that tend to tag along.

    I actually think if every person who didn’t have a dog ended up with one as devoted as yours, that the world would actually be a MORE lonely place, because a lot of people who previously would not have had dogs would now hang out with their dogs, always have a companion, and have a bit less need for interaction with other actual people🙂

    @Clint
    When you are walking dogs, people stop and talk to you, who would otherwise walk right by. Also I have some friends who love to come walk with me and my dogs. You might say I love you, Carolyn, Vicky, Sean, Jay, Jaqueline and even Lowell more than Moon and Sunny. I see more of Moon and Sunny, though.

    How cool is that?

    Does a dog ever complain about heading out into the world on a new adventure? Not nearly as much as one’s spouse might.😉

    So quick side note. Although I wished the world to have a companion on the caliber of a good dog, I never stipulated said companion had to be canine. 🙂

    Plus, I’ve heard that having a dog is great for meeting women whilst out walking the dog. *sigh* I need to move to a place where I can have pets, don’t I?

    @Carolyn – Umm… that depends.

    Would you be taking the noun “dog” as the compliment I intend… or are you taking it in the context that Brandon Carter and the likes used on the school bus during middle school? 🙂
