It always blows my mind the things you can rent. One of my hobbies is the supporting of somewhat underground dance parties, and once we rented a 100KW generator.. no questions asked. I understand that you can rent RVs with no more credentials than it requires to rent a car.. (though personally I find the idea of some guy just renting a 40′ RV and tooling down the road a little scary..seems like you ought to need a CDL or something..). We once rented a small supercomputer for a few days to test some things (although, to be fair, the machine didn’t actually physically go anywhere, they just gave us root access and lots and lots of storage space to dump our results. I’ve rented everything from lasers to very thick electrical cables. It seems like you really can rent just about anything you can buy.

(of course, I can’t help but flash over to a couple of lines from the musical Rent: o/~ So I own not a notion, I escape and ape, content – I don’t own emotion, I rent…. o/~
