Jimmie and Henry: Been There Done That

September 4, 2006 at 3:13 pm 8 comments

Yesterday, Stacy snapped this picture of Jimmie and Henry at the top of Tinker Cliffs.  They are drinking out of a puddle that collected in a crevace in the rock.  Emily and Cory’s legs are in the background, along with the view.

I remembered when I got home– that I have a picture of Jimmie and Henry drinking from a puddle on the same rock from May 2005.  It’s from a different angle– but it is the same rock:

Your hiking posts are fun to read and remind me of the hikes Kathryn and I have done in the past. We went to Tinker Cliffs twice back in 2002 and really enjoyed it. Like you’ve said, Tinker Cliffs is a great hike because there are fantastic sights and the hike isn’t swamped with visitors. Here are some of our pictures:

Thanks! If you do plan and outing and want a partner in crime, let me know!

Your pictures are great– nice snake on the bridge!

Any ideas on what kind of snake that was?

Boy I assumed black rat snake for the thumbnail but when you click on the big picture, it does have a different coloration and pattern, so I’m not sure.

I forwarded your picture to a friend though and he’ll have an answer (Not sure if it will be the RIGHT answer, but it will be an answer).

I am told it is a Brown Watersnake which is harmless.

Right before we crossed that same bridge earlier this year, I saw a snake go from the path and into the water where it swam away from the dogs.

Perhaps that was a *water* snake as well.

Hey, cool, it definitely looks like that type of snake:

    Thanks for the research!

Watersnake eh? Long way from water…

RE the dogs drinking, if you look at the swirly ridge next to the pool, I believe it is actually the same pool they drank from in both years (the ridge is also the upper edge of the dip I was relaxing in for the photo of Kipp and I on the rocks)

Whoa, I think you are right. I think it is the same puddle!
