Best Mother’s Day Card Ever

May 15, 2006 at 10:39 pm 16 comments

Last week, some co-workers and I went to Target to fetch some Mother's Day cards.  The second card I picked up, I was completely sold on.

"I'm getting this one!"  I announced, "It says 'Dog Crap!'"

"Public place," one of my co-workers tried to delicately remind me and out of the corner of my eye I saw a child pass by.

"It's a public card," I protested.

"Oh come on, it doesn't really say dog crap," he said.

I showed him the card.

"I stand corrected."

And that is how I found the best Mother's Day Card ever.  In fact– it uses the phrase "dog crap" twice:

Best Mother's Day Card

And for those skeptics out there—  I'll have you know I spoke to my mother yesterday and she got a kick out of the card as well.  🙂

When I went shopping for a card for Mom, I went to the Mother’s Day card section, and the first card I picked up said exactly what I wanted to say. Now, in the interest of not making a rash uninformed decision, I picked up another card. It was CRAP compared to the first one. I was like “That’s it, I can’t read any more. This is the one”… I went home, and I wrote “Love, Carolyn” on it, and had Clint sign his name also (even though, it was a card that was specifically from a daughter).

Then on Saturday when I went to Mom’s house, I read Vicky’s card… The card itself wasn’t much from the heart (as Vicky mentioned, it was supposed to be from a husband to a wife), but she filled the entire inside with a personal message to Mom, which *was* from the heart. After reading it, I had to laugh because half of the personal message was the story of how the card was obtained. So I was like “OK, only half of it is actually from the heart, so that’s OK”

Mom did make a point to show Vicky’s card to Becky, so she can enjoy the humor of the “dog crap.”

Clint has a funny story about cards too, but I’ll let him tell it if he so chooses.

You could have done what my Uncle Mark does. I’ve received cards from him in the middle of the summer. I open it up and it is a Christmas card, complete with a picture of Santa Claus and snow. He’ll cross out the “Christmas” or “Holiday” reference and replace it with something more abstract.

    Happy [Day]
    [Good] Greetings

He considered that, but we decided to give it to her on her actual birthday

I love the comic, and your blog. I’m looking for something dog poop related for my blog (http://picturesofdogdoodoo.blogspot.com), since it is mother’s day and all, and this is perfect!
